  • The basketball and court are provided, of course.

The Game

  • League play will be in a round robin format, followed by a playoff tournament.
  • Games will be played Wednesday nights between __:00 and __:00 PM; teams may be scheduled to play more than one game per night.
  • Games will be decided with the first team to 21 winning (teams must win by 2pts). There will be a 25 minute time cap. Baskets made beyond the arc are worth two (2) points; all regular shots are worth one (1) point. Teams making a basket will retain possession.
  • On changes of possession, be it off a steal or missed shot (irrespective of hitting the rim or backboard), the team taking the ball must clear it past the arc in order to take a shot.
  • Team must have at least 3 players to begin the game
  • Games start at the top and bottom of the hour; teams not ready to play within five (5) minutes after their scheduled time will lose their game by forfeit.
  • Substitutions may be made after a basket or any stoppage of play.
  • First Ball will be decided by a coin toss/number guess
  • One player from each team will keep score of the game, and then report the score back to Campus Rec Staff when the game is over.
  • If the ball is knocked out of bounds, it shall be awarded to the opposing team.
  • No dunking is allowed in either warm-ups or games. Any participant observed dunking on any basket at any time may be dismissed from the game and/or season.

Fouls

  • Games are to be played on an honour system with players calling their own fouls. In the case of a foul, the fouled player/team will take possession of the ball at the point (top of the arc). Should a play be highly disputed, the supervising Campus Rec Staff will either weigh in with a decision on the matter or indicate for the play to restart and the teams to let the issue go.
  • Participants are reminded that Campus Recreation promotes fair play and the spirit of fun over and above winning at all costs; individuals involved with Campus Recreation programming are expected to cast aside poor attitudes and dirty play, and have fun while allowing others to have fun too.
  • All decisions by the Campus Recreation official are final. Excessive arguing with the officials will result in ejection from the game
  • Any player conducting themselves in a manner that would otherwise result in a technical foul will be removed from the game. The opposing team will be given possession and one (1) extra point.
  • The Campus Recreation Staff Member shall caution any player who is guilty of any incidental profane language. Any player or spectator who uses insulting or abusive language shall be ejected. Staff may eject anyone from the game who display unsportsmanlike conduct throughout the game.
